Christchurch goes paintballing

Now paintballing might not be your idea of a traditional church activity. You have to dress up in camouflage style overalls and shoot small balls of paint at other people from implements that look very gun shaped! I prefer to see it as a mixture of hide and seek, cricket, squash and painting activities on a field with trees and sheds. It was a great afternoon of fun. With the age range of 14 – 60 (with a mode of 29) ten of us ventured to the woods around Ratby and enjoyed an afternoon of paintballing. Those of us from Christchurch invited a friend or two and 2 1/2 hours later, somewhat sweaty and exhausted, with a mixture of paint smears over our overalls we went home.

The event arose from an acknowledgment that many of the great activities we undertake at Christchurch are, well, rather tame. We wanted to introduce a theme of more active and possible extreme activities that we could invite friends and family to. Paintballing was the first. Next on the list is a slightly more inclusive 10 pin bowling and following that a trial SCUBA dive in a local swimming pool. There are a number of other activities in the planning stage, so watch this space. We plan to have such an event about once every three months. See john Fowler to sign up!
