The following is taken from the latest newsletter, with some minor edits, and was written by Olwen, who organises the annual Shoebox Appeal for us.
Thank you to all those who contributed once again to this appeal! Christchurch was a Drop-Off centre for other local churches and members of the public and we received 144 boxes which were collected on 24th November to begin their journey to underprivileged children living in Serbia. We again purchased the readymade boxes from O.C.C. which proved very successful but it was also nice to see a variety of covered boxes on display.
Thanks go to Kathryn who donated several tubes of toothpaste and toothbrushes from Overdale School, Susan who again knitted numerous hat, glove & scarf sets and other members who generously donated cash to enable me to fill extra boxes.
