Our Remembrance Sunday service today was led by Mr John Aldridge. John is a local preacher and also a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire. In that capacity he presented a wreath of poppies which is now displayed in the entrance of the church, together with a new banner for Remembrance Sunday made by the banner group. John’s sermon centred on three R’s: Remembrance, Repentance and Response. Remembrance of the sacrifices and follies of the past, Repentance now for our frequent failure to ‘love our neighbour’ and our Response in the future to be peacemakers.
