One of our younger members recently spent three weeks in Latvia on a Guide project. The following is what she wrote for the newsletter.
“I’m sure you all know by now that in October, I spent 3 weeks in Latvia on a project for Girlguiding – Mum was kindly posting my blogs on the notice board, so hopefully, for those of you that were interested, you managed to read a bit of how the project was going whilst we were out there.
During the 3 weeks, we met 128 members of LSGCO, the Latvian Scout and Guide Central Organisation, during 14 official sessions over a total of 28.5 hours. As well as this, we also camped with them, canoed with them, ate with them, hiked with them… The camp in the forest was certainly a highlight for me – it was really interesting to see how they run camps over there, as well as getting the chance to chat to more of the Rangers and Rovers, run trainings for them, and simply learn a couple of Latvian games!
We all had a great time, and despite a few obstacles and challenges, overall we feel like we had a successful project. Thank you for all of your support, it would have a lot more difficult without you! Last week, I was lucky enough to be asked to be team leader for the next stage of the project, in 2015, so I’m really excited by that, and I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about the continuation next year.”
