Suspension of Sunday Services
In response to the coronavirus epidemic, there will be no church services on Sundays for the time being. We intend to have the church open at certain times for anyone to come in for private prayer (maintaining a safe distance from anyone else!) and there will be a notice about this here when we’ve got it organised. For weekday activities please contact the organisers directly.
Normal service times are 10.00am in morning and 6.30pm in the evening. There may be changes to these times for special occasions. We have a variety of styles of service which are described below. Refreshments are served after both morning and evening services. There is a Traidcraft stall after the morning services, selling fairly produced goods.
There is a service in the worship centre every Sunday morning, led by a Baptist or Methodist minister, or an accredited lay preacher. This is in a traditional style with hymns/songs, Bible readings, prayers and sermon. There are also contemporary style services (Space) twice a month in the hall.
Space is a relaxed, informal service, held in the morning twice a month (normally the 1st and 3rd Sundays), at the same time as the service in the worship centre. It follows a “Café Church” style with things to do and discuss, and a band to accompany the singing. The dates are given in the sidebar to the right.
Most evening services are an informal café style gathering in the Atrium for discussion and reflection and includes Holy Communion once a month. Occasionally we combine with other local churches for a joint service, either with the Methodist Trinity Circuit or the South Leicester Christian Partnership, which may be at Christchurch or another local church. Details are in the sidebar on the right.
We have a growing number of young people in morning services, mostly pre-school age, but all ages are catered for. They go into the atrium when they get bored with the service, where they are looked after with Bible stories and practical activities suitable for their ages. If you are visiting with children, they are welcome to stay in the service with you or go into the atrium. There is also a play area in the church which you can use. Teenagers tend to stay in the services. We also have a popular Parent and Toddlers group on Tuesday mornings during term time.
