Welcome

Christchurch is a local Christian community mainly serving Clarendon Park and surrounding areas in Leicester. We aim to be inclusive, non-judgmental and supportive of everyone who finds a home with us and warm and welcoming to anyone who comes to visit. Our worship and activities are diverse and varied, and tend to change quite frequently. Services take on a wide variety of forms, from the hymn-sandwich to café-style and there are many weekday activities, including discussion groups, weekday prayer meeting, art group, luncheon club, parents and toddlers… There is a wide range of ages and backgrounds in the church.

If you have come to Leicester to study and are living in Clarendon Park, we are right on your doorstep and would love to see you.

Community Barbecues

Our popular Saturday barbecues this year will be on 28th April and 16th June, from 12 noon till 2 pm in the church car park. If you’re shopping on Queen’s Road in the morning, pop in for a burger for your lunch!

Hot dogs, burgers and refreshments are all FREE. Also a bouncy castle and maybe a few other attractions.

A Showing of ‘The Shack’

On 29th April in place of the normal evening service there will be a showing of the film ‘The Shack’, released last year. The following is a resumé of the story, quoted from rottentomatoes.com (which just happens to be a convenient length)

Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, The Shack takes us on a father’s uplifting spiritual journey. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips [Sam Worthington] spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa [Octavia Spencer]. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.

Because of it’s length (2h 13m) this will start at 5.30 pm. Refreshments will be provided.
